Pennsylvania Dutch Pot Pie

My husband is very proud of his Pennsylvania Dutch heritage and is constantly sharing it with me even though he has exported it to Georgia.  I know he misses it very much so I though I could bring a little Dutch to Georgia for him , so I bought Betty Groff’s Pennsylvania Dutch Cookbook.

I have only made one recipe so far, Pot Pie and admittedly there was cook failure it being my first time and all but it was still a hit with my whole family.  Pennsylvania Dutch pot pie is not what you are thinking.  It is not a pastry shell filled with a thick meat stew but rather, imagine that pie all chopped up and mixed together. Basically you make squares of pastry and drop them into the, in this case, chicken stew.

Perhaps I am wrong but it is much like chicken in dumplings with flat noodles as opposed to dough balls.

It should be nice to have a Dutchmen help me out with the difference.

I was going to put a link to the Amazon store i bought my book from but it seems they are sold out of this particular book however I found some links to similar books that I intend to buy but thought I would share so you can check them out too.

Take Off with the Fly Lady

I have been having motivation issues not just in one area but many as you can see from the desolate place this site has become.  I did not seem to be able to get out of my funk but never ceased looking for an answer, a way out and Ifinally thought of one though it took me a while to even get motivated enough to just click but finally I did.

There is a site I visit often for work and several years ago one of the ladies mentioned a motivational website that sounded interesting, http://www.flylady.net/index.asp.  It is geared toward women and house keeping but does not end there, it even helps with self esteem.  I enjoy every visit, especially when I get to read cool little topics like, “Are YOU living in CHAOS (Can’t Have Anyone Over Syndrome)

I very much enjoy participating in a support group type scenario but working from home and having four children makes it hard to physically get out, alone, to be a part of these things and this little online community gives me theopportunity to be a part of the group at my leisure.

I am only on baby step five but already I am feeling better, looking better and my house is reaping the rewards.

If you find yourself overwhelmed  maybe they flay lady is for you.
