Hero- A Definition Essay

A hero is someone who has, sometimes against all odds, sometimes easily, become great. Some people consider a rich man to be a hero, because he has a lot of money. This could be true but not because of material. A hero must have accomplished something great, such as saving a life, or like Rosa Parks maybe you just kept your seat.

There is a hero in every facet of life, because a hero in roof work might only be a fast shingler; but he is still great in that way. Then there are the heroes in the limelight, such as Martin Luther King, and Abraham Lincoln.

Fame is not to be confused with heroism. You may be famous for acting in a good movie, but you haven’t become a hero. You can be a hero from the smallest ice fishing village in Canada.

There are different types of heroes, such as Teddy Roosevelt, who simply inspired many, or a firefighter, who has save hundreds of people’s lives. Maybe you gather money for charity, or save stray dogs.

There are many words for hero, but I think they mean the same thing. A hero is a great person, regardless of how or why.

The cool owl

We go exploring a lot and take pictures of all the cool things we find.

This day was certainly not lacking anything cool. After having breakfast out, feeding the ducks and geese at the park we were driving down a back road and saw this guy standing in the middle of the road. He was so beautiful and did not appear to be hurt or scared of us for that matter. When Scott went to try to pick him he rotated his head all the way to his back following Scott’s progress. That could intimidate anyone.

So with the owl distracted, I got a thick, quilted baby blanket from the far and put it over the owl and moved him to the side of the road after two attempts. I did not want to hold him to tightly in case something was injured.

He must not have been too badly hurt because after we got him to the side of the road he flew away.

I think getting to be so close to him made everyone’s day.
