So the end of the year is coming and my boys have had several accomplishments.
Andrew made A/B honor roll and won the first place medal at the Greco Roman freestyle competition.
Nicholas Made A/B honor Roll and won second place in the Greco Roman/Freestyle completion. His honors ceremony is tomorrow so I may have even more to report from both his drama performance and chorus. He also participated in science Olympiad and is in Venture, his schools gifted program.
Christopher also is on A-B Honor roll and just won, about fifteen minutes ago, his grade level Spelling B. First place! He will be going to the next stage of competition in Marietta soon.
Nicholas and Andrew will be in a Greco Roman/ freestyle Tournament on May 31st at Henry county High School. I plan to attend this one my boys’ family on the southern side of Georgia can easily attend.
You can click here for more information on that tourney and know that it is possible due to car troubles we may still be unable to attend. I will let any one who is interested in attending know if we should have to cancel.
I just wanted to add that their team’s site, www.powderceg.com
was designed by me! I am pretty proud of it!

Andrew’s first wrestling tournament was great. I was not sure how he would do because he plays a lot at practices and his weight and age class is one of the largest. However he really impressed me for his first tournament.
This Tournament was at Walton High School in Marietta and Scott and I were divided because Nicholas and Drew were in different gymnasiums so Scott stayed with Nicholas until Drew’s Dad got there, he was a little late, seems he could not drive in the correct lane he was so excited to see Drew wrestle for the first time!
Drew impressed me he won his very first match by intimidation without any suggestion from the adults. While the referee was at the table Drew started making these scrunched up mean faces at his opponent. It was hilarious to Scott and I as adults but I bet the little boy wrestling him thought he was just a little bit nuts thus successfully intimidating him and breaking his confidence…For the WIN!
The next match he won he screamed a war cry the whole time and pinned the boy in less that thirty seconds! GO DREW!
He did not place however. What more does anyone want from a first match! He did Awesome!
Nicholas did not place this go around but he has a new motto, he will not be pinned, and that is wonderful because he wasn’t. In fact he almost one one match that had to go into over time to determine the winner! He did really great.
Nick is a little hefty for his size which makes him have to be in a higher weight class that he really does not belong in however he has been making and effort to make healthier choices in his eating habits and has been steadily losing about a pound and a half a week. I do not encourage him to diet but in the digital age all it took was for him to get out there and move more to make a difference in his weight.
I am very proud of him and happy Mrs. Chase-Wegener got our family involved in wrestling. It has made a big difference in out kid’s confidence and health which makes for a much happier family!
Scott got a reality check in Nicholas’s gymnasium. Apparently there was this woman, a parent of a wrestler, who went up and got down on the mat with the coaches and was beating on it screaming like a mad woman, “If you get pinned don’t you come home!” Over and over again. Where exactly is a ten year old going to go if not home? Scott he though that woman had lost her marbles and that is saying a lot if he thinks it!
I will never become that woman and am proud to say we have none of those parents on our team!
Sadly I forgot my camera this go round so I do not have any pictures of this match.
This post was written one month after the fact due to illness

No worries though we have plenty of time to practice!

Go Nicky!
